ATO Targeting Contractors
As part of a crackdown on contracting arrangements, the Australian Tax Office is reportedly contacting contractors it believes have wrongly assessed themselves as conducting personal business services. 

This latest round of checks focusses on the individual rather than the employer, however Roberts & Cowling would like to remind employers that they can be penalised if they falsely and deliberately engage an employee as a contractor.
