Bookkeeping
Roberts & Cowling provide an outsourced accounts/ bookkeeping solution. The exact system is customised to each client to ensure that the needs of each client are met. All clients have 24 hour / 7 days a week access to their financial records through our IT infrastructure which makes your outsourced accounts department feel internal. Roberts & Cowling are accountants however a client can engage just bookkeeping services and Roberts & Cowling will liaise with your accountant to ensure the accounts are to each individual accountants needs.

The system and processes that we provide depends on our engagement but can include:

Payroll - Setting up of employees, ensuring compliance with awards etc, maintaining staff entitlements, Processing of payments, actual payment of wages, ensuring compliance with government requirements (Superannuation, PAYG and Payroll Tax), payroll reporting and distribution of payroll slips.

Suppliers - Maintaining supplier records, entry of supplier invoices, reconciliation to statements, processing payments for approval, actual payment to suppliers and distribution of remittance advices

Customers - Preparation and issuing of invoices, entry of invoices, distribution of invoices, preparation of statements and distribution, initial debt collection and issuing of credit notes when required

Reconciliations - Reconciliation of all transactions accounts (Cheque, Credit Card), Reconciliation of GST, PAYG and Superannuation accounts.

Reporting - Preparation of weekly / monthly reports, job / project reporting, customised reports to the clients needs.

A client can do as little or as much as they would like in these processes even though the accounts are outsourced through our IT infrastructure. For example a client can enter the invoices and Roberts & Cowling can do the distribution. Roberts & Cowling prides ourselves on developing a system that runs smoothly so that a client knows their accounts are accurate. Our clients can concentrate on running and growing their business and make informed decisions based on reporting that a client has confidence in.

Why would you engage an outsourced accounts department?

There are many reasons why outsourcing your accounts department can be beneficial.

Some of the major ones are:

  • Physical space - by outsourcing a client does not have to provide any physical space for the employee as well as provide equipment (computers etc)

  • Privacy - This seems to be most advantageous with payroll records but also extends to everyday accounts so financial reports are not as accesble as they would be if they were on site.

  • Accounts Department - A dedicated team working on your accounts with supervision from accountants. Therefore, you are getting a combination of skill sets and knowledge rather than relying on one employee.

  • Gain time - By outsourcing and having suppliers and / or customers calling Roberts & Cowling we deal with the query and therefore the client isn't interrupted and can concentrate on strategic issues and growth.
